Here are some helpful tip to get it fitting like a glove.
Once the cover is on both the front and back cover, set the book down on a flat surface, so that the front cover is the one that is not closed.
From here you can go 2 ways
option #1: slowly and carefully fold the front cover down stretching the vinyl, once closed place a heavy object on top for 24 hours
option #2 (my preferred way): use a heat tool or a hair dryer to apply a bit of heat to the spine of the notebook, this will help the vinyl mold to the book, making the cover fit like a glove.
The cover will fit up to a 1 inch spine, like archer and olive, paper minty and other hard bound books. There is also a full video on my IG stories, showing this process
